What's going on in the park

From time to time park roads and car parks are closed due to external events. The most up to date event information can be found on the organisers' website. 

Monday 19 August

Edinburgh International Festival Society

  • Healing Arts Scotland opening celebrations.
  • No road closure. Partial closure of Broad Pavement car park.

Friday 6 to Monday 9 September

Moonwalk

  • Taking place overnight for Breast Cancer on the evening of Saturday 7 September. Starting and finishing within Holyrood Park.
  • Road closures in place at the park from around 8pm on Saturday 7 September until around 1am on Sunday 8 September.
  • Broad Pavement car park closed Friday 6 to Monday 9 September.
  • Duddingston Loch car park closed Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September.

Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 September

  • Film unit base.
  • No road closures. Broad Pavement car park closed.

Thursday 12 September

  • ABRDN 5km charity race on Queen’s Drive raising funds for British Heart Foundation and Land Aid.
  • High Road closed from 12 noon.
  • Access to Dunsapie Loch car park restricted.

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September

Kiltwalk

  • Mighty Stride starting from Holyrood Park.
  • Queen's Drive closure.
  • Meadowbank car park closed Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September.

Sunday 22 September

Men and Women's 10k

  • 10K starting on Royal Mile and going through Holyrood Park.
  • Queen's Drive closure, Horse Wynd to Duke’s Walk closure, in addition to restrictions on some roads surrounding the park.
  • Broad Pavement car park closed (TBC).

Saturday 28 September

Shine Night Walk

  • 10K walk starting and finishing at National Galleries. Pit stop in Holyrood Park.
  • Road closures TBC. Broad pavement car park closed.

Saturday 9 November

SANDS Starlight Walk

  • 6km walk around Holyrood Park that will be held in aid of Sands Baby Loss Charity.
  • Queen’s Drive closure. Galloping Glen section closure (Holyrood Gait to Holyrood Park Road)
  • No car park closure.

Saturday 23 November

Movember Run

  • 1.5km, 5km, 10km and half marathon charity run for Movember.
  • Standard weekend road closures.
  • Broad pavement car park closed from 6am.

Noise Control

We acknowledge the proximity of some of the event sites to local residences and endeavour to do everything possible to minimise disruption.

Should there be any noise issues with an event please contact the Environmental Health Team at The City of Edinburgh Council. During normal office hours please call 0131 608 1100 or email asknoise@edinburgh.gov.uk. If you are disturbed in the evening or at the weekend, call Licensing Standards Officers on 0131 200 2000.

Opening times

The High Road and Dunsapie Loch Car Park are open to vehicles from Tues to Thur, 9.30am to 3pm. A one-way system is in place for cyclists.

On Sat & Sun all roads are closed to vehicles during the day. Closures will commence from 7.15am to 8am. The roads will reopen between 9.15pm and 10pm.
