A corbel is a block of stone which projects from a wall and supports a load above. This example features an angel standing on a corbel decorated with foliage. The head of the angel has been lost, but the remains of the wings are still visible behind the shoulders, and also possibly a halo. The draperies are eroded by clearly fluid, and break neatly at the feet. The figure may have been set on the left hand side of an arch.
