On 13 June, Historic Environment Scotland announced the appointment of Katerina Brown to the permanent position of Chief Executive. The start date for our new CEO is being finalised, once confirmed we will update this page.
Craig Mearns, Director of Operations, is currently acting as Interim Chief Executive following the recent departure of Alex Paterson.
About the role
Our Chief Executive builds on the hard work of our staff, which led to the launch of our first Corporate Plan and Business Plan
They report to the Board and are responsible for carrying out their vision and strategy. This is done by managing resources and providing assurance to the board.
As a public body, our Chief Executive is also the designated Accountable Officer to the Scottish Government.
